Consumphony
An experimental stop-motion animation created with trash collected over a period of one year.
In college, I started saving trash to use as free art supplies. Cardboard, bottle caps, plastic containers; anything I could turn into sets or puppets for stop-motion. Over time, I became more aware of how much waste we produce every day. That awareness slowly turned into the foundation for this film.
I decided to build an entire world out of trash. I began collecting more seriously, cleaning and organizing everything, until half my apartment was filled with boxes of garbage. For months, I didn’t have a clear story. I only had a rule: everything in the film had to be trash.
The puppets, the sets, and even the sound design were made from discarded materials. I recorded sounds from the trash itself and built the music from those recordings. Once enough pieces were built, the story followed naturally.
Consumphony is the result of living inside that collected waste and letting it shape the film.
